many here will know that greg stafford is an independent jw apologist.

he has defended watchtower doctrine, written a number of books and publicly debated rob bowman (also soon to publicly debate james white).

this has confused a lot of people as jws are discouraged from public debate.

Do you do any volunteer/community service work?

i'm currently considering getting involved in some volunteer/community service type work.. any of you all do any kind of community/volunteer work that is fun and rewarding?

I help put on a summer mini-camp for kids who live in the housing projects of S.F every year - it's an aspect of the Operation Dream program (maybe SF Jim has heard of it).

I've also done the SMART reading program with kids in schools, and other projects.

the true religion?

what emboldens jehovahs witnesses to think that their teachings and their religion is th e only means of enjoying a satisfying life and is the only representation of god?

interestingly, I think the only boldness was on the part of those like Rutherford, who came up with the whole shmeer.

Most witnesses are so afraid of their own shadow, they loove the idea of having a lock on what to do.

The appeal of "the truth" is not having to deal with shades of gray, or developing your own judgement.

they give me something to look forward to besides the asembleys and memoral and the deer hunt.

Actually, I still hate Halloween... too many memories of hiding in our own house.

Xmas, Tksgiving, New Year all rock.

I love giving gifts. I love shopping for them and I love getting them wrapped and I love seeing people's faces when they open them!

And I love cooking the TK meal. I do a mean turkey!

The 4 Way Test,: Do your posts pass?

i ran accross this the other day in the paper and thought this might be appropriate to everyone posting here.. rotary 4-way test.

it was created by rotarian herbert j. taylor in 1932 when he was asked to take charge of a company that was facing bankruptcy.

taylor looked for a way to save the struggling company mired in depression-caused financial difficulties.

Some posters here will choke on the idea that anything they consider to be true might not be beneficial or fair. And once some people think they're right, they could care less about building relationships with others.

Too bad, because building relationship is a lot more constructive and effective than simply being right all the time... and what's more important, having people see you as having the right answer, or making the biggest difference?
